Ferrum Lodge celebrated their 1301st meeting in April and witnessed a presentation of a 50 year certificate to W. Bro Brian Watson, currently the SW of the lodge.
Brian started his masonic journey in the province of Durham and was previously WM of Derwent Lodge. His work commitments as a Quantity Surveyor sent him to many developing cities around the world whilst they were experiencing major growth trends. His services were required in such places as Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, Baku in Azerbaijan, Angola, Trinidad, Toronto and Saudi Arabia returning to the UK in 2020.
Whilst living in so many distant communities he was unable to frequent his Durham Lodge but always maintained his membership and at the same time attended many lodges in those foreign parts. The lodge heard about the extraordinary life of Brian, he had many interesting tales to tell which included having played in the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament in two successive years for an elite Dubai team. It was on his return to the UK and whilst playing for Guisbrough veterans rugby team and scrummaging with Ferrum member and past master, Martin Tart that he decided to become a joining member of that lodge, working his way through the offices to his current position.
Ferrum are proud to have Brian as a member and look forward to enjoying his presence into the future.
