The Province of Yorkshire North and East Ridings once again took part in the annual Inter-Provincial clay pigeon competition on Saturday 5th October.

YNER fielded one of the biggest teams in our history of the competition and on the day.

On a very bright and sunny Saturday morning we had to divide ourselves into 3 separate teams due to the excellent turn out from the Province and started the competition. A 50 bird sporting with 5 stands which included simulated rabbits, crossing pairs and over heads a very challenging course especially the stand which had clays disappearing into the sun and a very short opportunity to shoot it.

The team shot very well and had two novices who were well looked after by the team and an upcoming potential Mason awaiting his 1st at Huntcliffe in January where I hope many of the team will join him in his first step into freemasonry.

Our top gun this year was Mike Percival from Thornborough Lodge with an excellent score of 35 birds.

YNER came a very close 3rd with a total score of 188 from the 5 top shooters, Durham second at 192, East Lancashire first at 197.

A very close competion this year and a vast improvement just 9 clays from the winners

I must take the opportunity to thank all of our Brethren who attended this event and who competed against some very experienced competitors we were proud to represent our Province and look forward to our next competition the War of the Roses and hope to send a team to the National Masonic clay championships both next year

We have a WhatsApp group where we arrange shooting days together and are always looking for more members.
