On Saturday 8 August, under glorious sunshine and in temperatures more suited to the Ashes in Australia, the PGM’s XI took on the Festival Chairman’s XI at St Peter’s School, York, in support of the Festival 2029 Appeal.

Cheered on by family and friends, both teams served up an entertaining afternoon of cricket, good-natured rivalry and tremendous fellowship, with everyone enjoying a thoroughly memorable day.

A special thank you goes to Martin and Moira Bean, who generously donated the excellent match tea, an important part of any cricketing occasion and, in the heat, possibly more eagerly anticipated than the final score!

Our thanks also go to Andy Hinchcliff who took many photos throughout the day and John Rees, Provincial Photographer, as well as Ged Demoily, for capturing the day so brilliantly. Andy has already been “signed” by the ProvGM for next year’s eagerly awaited rematch!
