Handyside Lodge No. 1618 Saltburn has celebrated 150 years of Freemasonry.

The evening was a complete sell out for both the temple and the festive board which made for a great evening of celebration.

The evening was enhanced by a visit from the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, a large team of active Provincial officers, Past rulers, Grand officers and many visitors including a contingent from Wingate Lodge from the Province of Durham.

The lodge received a very interesting talk entitled "The 150th anniversary of Handyside lodge and the history of Masonry in Saltburn" which was written by W Bro John Mortimer and delivered by W Bro Dennis Hardy,  well received by everyone present.

The Worshipful Master, W Bro Howard Bean, was presented with a certificate commemorating 150 years from Right Worshipful Brother Mark Iveson who was then presented with a certificate donating £300 for festival 2029.

Downstairs at the festive board a celebratory cake was cut by the Worshipful Master and the Provincial Grand Master which was then followed by some masonic entertainment from W. Bro. Merrick Hamilton from Clarence Lodge, in the Province of Durham, who amused the brethren with his songs.

W Bro Howard Bean thanked everyone for coming along and making the night such a very special occasion.
